David went to see Dr. McKendry last Tues. He upped the dose for the methotrexate, from 4 to 5 (2.5 each). Thurs. the darn polychondritis started to rare it's ugly head again. It started with his voice going. We had hopes that the increased dosage (starting Friday) would improve things and although it was not as bad as some flair ups it was bad enough. Small eruptions on his arm, hand and shin, and for the first time a wonky hip. David slept on and off Friday and Sat. Sunday his right eye was red and a bit swollen and his right ear started to go red and a bit painful. Monday was a day of "rest". Tues. the ear is still red and more painful. David took 4 prednisone in the middle of the night as the ear was becoming a nuisance. Wed. the left ear is starting! It's amazing how much better David looks after taking the prednisone. Better colour and not quite so strained, the ears are improving and the hip pain appears to have subsided. He went to work in Montreal yesterday and again today. He is keeping the days as short as possible as he gets tired quickly.
David will be seeing the surgeon on Monday (24th) to find out when the surgery for his gallbladder will be. (It's been quite challenging organising meals that David can eat (no milk, butter, red meats, cheese) and Gluten Free for Emma)Lets hope this is it. Third time is the charm (polychondritis, thyroid and gallbladder)??? Besides, David has had enough!!!
